lets have a look at this small kind of pancake lens for Sony alpha cameras with crop sensor. product name : SELP1650 (Sony 16-50mm f3,5-5.6 OSS).
remove lens caps and start with 4screws on rear side of the lens

gently pull out mounting plate as underneath is ribbon cable connecting lens connectors to the mainboard of the lens.

on the mainboard are 4 connectors one is for mounting plate which you disconnected in last step, go ahead and disconnect rest of 3 connectors they are different sizes so you can easily match cable with connector afterwards.

pull out mainboard , mainboard has small rubber pads so do not drop them(they are hard to look for). I left the last connector for this step as you see in picture bellow.

once mainboard is out next will be ZOOM motor, two screws holding motor (see arrows). careful with ribbon cables. moving on to screws holding outer case of the lens.

this step is tricky as to be able to remove outer casing you need to pull and squeeze the barrel to almost shape of egg – as lens inner barrel has 3 points which are in the way. this step felt odd but has to be done!

at this stage I marked up inner barrels ( line with permanent marker ) .

this skinny rear rig has plastic clips , you can pop it off even with finger nails.

next thing to remove is this middle barrel it has rails for zoom , now you can see why I used permanent marker.

moving on … disassembling glass pull out inner lens – this unit contains lenses and focusing and stabilisation unit.

3 pieces , two on left side are connected together with ribbon cable

here is it connector and ribbon cable , cable has special folding way but you will deal with that once is time for you to assemble the lens.
